WTF?! What happened to my Catrice polish?

Hey everyone,
I was going through my nail polish stash yesterday, looking for a green shade, and then I saw my Catrice C02 Welcome to the Jungle polish from the Papagena LE *click*. And look what happened to the top:

I have no idea what that is, or how it happened! The polish has a rubber top, but out of that rubber top there are some weird white rubber lines coming out! What is that? I have so no idea!
The polish itself is still fine, it hasn't dried out, and the formula hasn't changed a bit! It seems to be all fine, but only the top looks funny...

Does anyone have an idea what that could be? How it happened? Does someone have that, too?
I didn't leave it in direct sunlight or anything, just kept in on my shelf and nothing else!
Hopefully someone can help me out!
I'll see you later!
xoxo, Misch

  1. Crazy! I have no idea what it is! How is the feeling when you touch the top with your finger?

  2. @Salander: the white thingies are bumpy and uneven, you can definitely feel them!

  3. It looks like the top of the handle dried out and the rubber shrunk. The white stuff is just the inside rubber that you can now see. As long as the polish is fine, everything should be okay. It's just esthetically unpleasing. Actually, I like the "design" it makes. :D

  10. All my Papagena's also did that! But the polish inside is fine and that's okay! Now I can recognise the Papagena bottles from their cap LOL!

  11. @Simona: well, now it kinda becomes an unsolved mystery ;) but as long as the polish is still okay, I guess we can live with it ;)

  14. Yes, they all do this from this LE. Do you remember that the designs were kind of "glued" on the bottle cap instead of painted on in the latest versions? Well this glued on paint deteriorates with time and becomes completely, well, gross to the touch. I tried to take mine off with alcohol, it helped but didn't go away completely. Luckily the Papagena collection is the only one they did this with!!!
