St. Patrick's Day Nail Art

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

For today's occasion I did some nail art showing the Irish spirit. So here's lots of green, as well as the Irish flag and shamrocks!

Products used:
China Glaze  - Running In Circles (bright green main colour)
China Glaze - Starboard (green part of the flag)
OPI - Jade Is The New Black (shamrocks)
Manhattan - M&Buffalo Off The Socks (orange)
BornPrettyStore - White Stamping Polish (white)
Essence nail art stylist (to draw the shamrocks)

It's just a very simple and fun design to celebrate St. Patrick's Day. Nothing difficult to it! What are you wearing today? Any green?

In case you're interested in a bit of Ireland-related stuff on here, check out my post on the Cliffs of Moher, Kinsale or Irish beaches!

NOTD: Peony Flower Nail Art

Here's some new nail art from me! A floral theme, because I'm tired of the grey weather outside. And as we're going to be stuck with it for quite some more time, why not bring colour to my nails at least?
The design are some flowers. I was inspired by peonies, but did not completely stay true to their looks, but rather settled on what looked good in my opinion.

Peony Flower Nail Art - Products used:
Essie Mint Candy Apple (background colour)
Essie Marshmallow (for white parts of the flowers)
Essie Need A Vacation (for light pink parts of the flowers)
Essie Watermelon (for dark pink parts of the flowers)
OPI Jade Is The New Black (for the leaves)
make-up sponge (to dab on the flowers)
BornPrettyStore Nail Brush No. 1 (to draw)

The great things about this type of flower is that you don't have to be exact at all. You can dot on the colours, swirl them together, mix them, everything is possible! You can make them as accurate or random as you like. I first used a make-up sponge to simply dab them on, and then went in with a nail art brush to add some more defined details. But that's totally up to you!

Do you like the design?

NOTD: Butterfly Wings Nail Art

Time for some more nail art!
This is actually a design I already did about two years ago, but I was in the mood of recreating it, and to be honest, I really love the result. It's supposed to depict the wings of a butterfly.

Products I used:
Kiko 279
OPI My Paprika Is Hotter Than Yours
Essie Forever Yummy
p2 eternal
Essence Stampy White Nail Polish
make-up sponge for gradient
toothpick
It takes some time to do this, but it's not as hard to do as it looks. I can do a tutorial for it in case you're interested!

What do you think of it?

NOTD: Triangle Nail Art

With a little more time on my hands, I am finally able to do stuff I didn't have a chance to do while studying all the time. One of these things is most certainly nail art!
For my first design I chose something geometric and abstract. I was pretty much testing out whether my skills had vanished. Luckily they don't have, at least not fully.
Products I used:
OPI I Theodora You
p2 eternal
p2 artful
Essence Nai Art Stylist

Do you like the design?

NOTD October 21st: Halloween Doodles

Hey there!

With Halloween approaching, I wanted to do some nail art for that occasion!
I just went for some random Halloween-themed doodles in black, on a base of orange. The shade is My Paprika Is Hotter Than Yours by OPI.

What do you think of it? Do you have any ideas for some more Halloween nail art designs?

NOTD October 14th: BCAM Pink!

Hey guys!

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month! It's our goal to raise awareness about breast cancer among as many people as possible, and this is my contribution to it!
Pink is the color of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, so I chose to paint my whole nails pink! I used OPI - I Theodora You for that. On my ring fingers I added the little ribbons in a darker pink.

Have you also already worn something pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month?

NOTD September 21st: OPI - I Brake For Manicures

Hey there!
Today I'd like show you an OPI nail polish of mine, I Brake For Manicures.
I Brake For Manicures is a very dark creme. It's a smoky purple grey shade, but so dark that it looks almost black. It does have some muted and muddy qualities to it which make it look different than a plain blackened shade.

Application was good, it's very squishy and smooth. At first it looked a bit patchy, but the coverage is already great with 2 coats. I did 3 here to be sure.
I Brake For Manicures was part of the Touring America Collection from Fall 2011. It should, however, still be available at some places.

I really like this shade, it looks elegant but not boring, and it's a nice shade for autumn!
What do you think of it?

NOTD September 16th: OPI - German-icure by OPI

Hi there!
Today I'd like to show you the final nail polish from my recent OPI haul, German-icure by OPI!
German-icure is a deep reddish brown shade. It contains lots and lots of warm red shimmer that adds depth and an interesting touch to it.

Application was good, it's a bit sheer at first but then is already fairly opaque after 2 coats. I did 3 thin ones here.
German-icure was part of 2012's Fall Collection, the Germany Collection. It should still be available, though, as my friend was able to buy it at a store only recently!

The gorgeous glow of the color is unfortunately not visible in my pictures, that's due to the lack of sunlight here these days. But you get an idea of it when you look at the bottle in the pictures :)

I really love this shade for autumn, it's so gorgeous!
What do you think of it?

NOTD September 11th: OPI - Magazine Cover Mouse

Hi guys!
Today I'd like to show you the next color from my mini OPI haul, Magazine Cover Mouse!
Magazine Cover Mouse is a pinkish red color with both golden and silverish glitter particles in it. It is a Liquid Sand nail polish, meaning it dries to a matte and textured finish that is very glittery nonetheless.

Application was really good. Due to the huge amounts of glitter the nail polish is a little bit thick, but it's still fine. It is also highly pigmented, meaning you get great coverage right away. I did 2 coats here.
Magazine Cover Mouse was part of the Couture De Minnie Collection from this summer, and should still be easy to get.

I really like how fun this color is! In the bottle it looks way warmer and more golden, but once applied it has these raspberry qualities to it that I like a lot. A gorgeous shade!

What do you think of it?

NOTD September 9th: OPI - Tiffany Case

Hey there!
Today I'd like to show you the first of my 3 new OPI nail polishes from my latest haul! This is Tiffany Case.
Tiffany Case is a light blue glitter nail polish. The glitter particles are of a lot of different sizes, mainly rather small. There are also some rather big and round silvery ones in there.
Tiffany Case is of OPI's Liquid Sand finish, meaning it dries matte and to a textured, kind of gritty finish.

Application was really good. Due to the lots and lots of glitter, it has a somewhat thick consistency, but it's not problematic. Since it's so densely packed with the glitter particles, it's very opaque. I did 2 normal coats here.
Tiffany Case was part of the Bond Girls Collection that was released this Spring. It should still be available!

I really love this shade, it's so much fun and reminds me of a pool :D
What do you think of it?

Mini Haul from America

Hey there!

A good friend of mine recently went to America, and being the sweetheart that she is, she got me some things I asked her to buy for me :)

First of all, candy! I love love love Peanut Butter Cups and simply don't understand why they aren't sold here. She got me a couple of the mini-sized ones, which is just lovely! They are delicious!
Then she got me this month's edition of Vogue. This is such a huge issue! It holds over 900 pages, which is a ton! It's seriously heavy, but full of great things to read! I love Jennifer Lawrence on the cover, and the story about Benedict Cumberbatch is great! :)
And then, some nail polishes. OPIs, obviously, because this way I can save the horrendously huge shipping costs. She got me these three:
OPI - Tiffany Case
Tiffany Case is a light blue shade with lots and lots of glitter particles in it, some of them also silver. It is of OPI's famous Liquid Sand finish, meaning it dries to a matte and textured finish.
Tiffany Case was part of this Spring's Bond Girls Collection and is very pigmented, I did 2 coats here.

OPI - Magazine Cover Mouse
Magazine Cover Mouse is a reddish pink shade, again full of glitter. In the bottle it looks more gold-ish, but once applied it has some cool-toned raspberry qualities to it. This is another Liquid Sand nail polish. 2 coats shown.
Magazine Cover Mouse was part of this Summer's Couture De Minnie Collection.

OPI - German-icure by OPI

And the color I've been waiting to get for quite a while now!
German-icure by OPI is a deep reddish brown fall shade. It's full of shimmer and looks very very warm.
It applies nicely with 2 coats here.
German-icure was part of last Fall's Germany Collection.

I'm in love with all of the stuff she got me, they are great things! Thank you so much again, Jo! :)
What do you think of my little haul?

NOTD June 24th: OPI - Houston We Have A Purple

Hey guys!
Today I'd like to show you OPI's Houston We Have A Purple!
Houston We Have A Purple is a bright purple shade, very red-toned. It has a jelly finish, meaning it's rather sheer but squishy.
I did 3 coats to get a somewhat full opacity, just a bit of visible nail line still apparent.
I really love how fun and delicious this color looks, great for summer :)
It was part of OPI's Texas Collection for Summer 2011, but should still be available.
What do you think of it?

NOTD May 15th: OPI - Jinx

Hey there!
Today I'd like to show you the last nail polish from my haul, Jinx by OPI.
Jinx is a orange coral shade with golden glitter. It dries to a textured matte finish, as it's part of OPI's Liquid Sand Finish.
Application was great, it went on nicely despite the glitter chunks, and only needed 2 coats!
Jinx is part of the current Bond Girls Collection (Spring/Summer 2013).
I love love love this nail polish, the sugar-like Liquid Sand finish looks just so right with this color, it's absolutely stunning!
What do you think of it?

NOTD May 11th: OPI - I Theodora You

Hey there!
Today I'd like to show you I Theodora You by OPI.
I Theodora You is a rather sheer baby pink shade. It's pretty cool-toned. Also, it feels a lot like a jelly, and is very shiny.
Application was good, at first it was streaky as you'd expect a sheer to be, but it built up nicely, so I left it at 3 thin coats.
I Theodora You is part of OPI's Soft Shades Collection of Spring 2013, called Oz The Great And Powerful.
I love it because it's so classy and chic!
What do you think of it?

NOTD May 9th: OPI - My Paprika Is Hotter Than Yours

Hi guys!
Today I'd like to show you the first nail polish from yesterday's haul, My Paprika Is Hotter Than Yours by OPI.
My Paprika Is Hotter Than Yours is a coral red orange kind of shade, quite hard to really define. It's very bright and saturated. In the bottle is a slight pearl, but it mainly looks like a creme.
Application was great, this one is on the squishy side and therefore glides on nicely. I did 2 coats here.
My Paprika Is Hotter Than Yours is part of OPI's Spring 2013 Collection, called Euro Centrale. It's available right now :)
I love the name because a Paprika here in Germany is a pepper, and this nail polish has the same exact color of the pepper soup my Mom always makes! The next time we have it I'll be sure to show you a picture :D
Would you like me to compare this color to other corals/reds/oranges I have in my stash?
And what do you think of it?
xoxo, Misch

OPI and Zoya Haul!

Hey everyone!
Today I'd like to show you the lastest additions to my nail polish stash! I recently ordered 3 new OPIs and 1 Zoya, which finally arrived :)
OPI - My Paprika Is Hotter Than Yours
My Paprika Is Hotter Than Yours is part of OPI's Spring 2013 Collection called Euro Centrale.
It is a very gorgeous shade of coral red orange. Very bright and saturated. In the bottle you can tell a tiny hint of a pearl to it, but most of the time it looks like a creme. 2 coats shown here.

OPI - I Theodora You
I Theodora You is part of OPI's Spring 2013 Oz The Great And Powerful Soft Shades Collection.
It is a sheer light pink, rather cool-toned and milky. It is very squishy and has jelly qualities. It looked best with 3 coats.

OPI - Jinx
Jinx is part of OPI's Bond Girls Liquid Sand Collection for Spring/Summer 2013.
The color itself here is a orange coral shade with golden glitter. This one dries to OPI's rather new Liquid Sand finish, meaning the glitter dries matte and leaves you with a gritty sugar-like texture on your nails. I absolutely love this one, it's so stunning, and I bet also with top coat! 2 coats here.

Zoya - Zuza
Zuza was part of Zoya's Surf Collection of Summer 2012.
It is a turquoise color with a metallic-foil shimmer, that is very strong. It's a very summery type of color!
Coats shown here are 2.

So, this concludes my little haul! I'm super happy with all of the shades and can't wait to wear them :)
What do you think of them?

Nail Art Tutorial: Double Animal Print

Hi guys!
Today I'd like to show you a nail art tutorial! I've been asked by a lovely reader to do a tutorial on my Double Animal Print nails *click*, and even though the design isn't from me but Kayla Shevonne, I was more than happy do one :)
This is what you need:
  • base coat of your choice
  • 2 contrasting nail polishes: here I chose a darker pink (Essie - Exotic Liras) and a turquoise (OPI - Fly). I find that creme shades work best as they don't pull the attention off the print. In my original NOTD I used a lighter pink, but feel free to change that as you please.
  • a black or white nail polish, in the best case with a striping brush. In this tutorial I tried how it would look with a white print, but you can always change that to black like in my original NOTD.
  • a toothpick or dotting tool to create the design
  • a top coat of your choice
This is how to do it:
  1. Use your base coat to protect your natural nails.
  2. Apply your lighter shade of color, in this case the pink, all over your nail.
  3. Now paint a little more than half of your nail with the darker color. For this you can use the actual brush of the polish. Make sure the vertical line is rather straight.
  4. Now you wanna grab your black/white nail polish and your dotting tool/toothpick, because we'll start off with the cheetah print. For that, draw random shapes of dots, circles and Cs on the pink part of your nail. They don't need to be accurate at all.
  5. It's time for the zebra print now! Take your black/white nail polish with the thin striping brush to create them. If you don't own a polish like that, you could always use a thin paint brush or even a toothpick. That'll work just fine! Make random stripes on the turquoise part of your nail, coming from both sides and also touching each other. Be creative here!

  6. Let it dry for quite a while, so you won't smear it, and then add your top coat to make it last longer.
I hope this tutorial was helpful! Send me some pictures if you recreate it! :)
xoxo, Misch
