Swatches: Essence Color&Go Nail Polish in 52 Out Of My Mind

Hiya!
This polish I'm about to show you will be leaving the Essence permanent line soon, so I thought you might wanna see it :) I got it on sale, for 0,95 Euros, the normal price would be 1,25 Euros.
It is a duo-chrome polish, and about that finish I'll be talking in the Polish Finish Series soon. It's a medium blue that looks light green in different angles. Meaning, it's changing from blue to green when you move it in the light.
It has a nice shimmer that is almost frosty, and can get a bit brush stroke-y. The first coat is rather sheer, but with the second it gets pretty opaque. I still did 3 on my nail wheel, however.
Do you already own this? Or will you get it while it's still available? I'm glad I picked it up!
Until then,
xoxo, Misch

Review: Rival de Loop Aqua Face Powder

Hi everyone,
today I will review the Aqua Face Powder by Rival de Loop that I already showed you here *click*.
Information:
  • only available at Rossmann
  • is part of a summer limited edition
  • costs 3,49 Euros for 15g
  • has a very light pinkish color with a golden shimmer
  • when you apply it it feels like water
  • it's a loose powder

Positives:
  • price
  • amount
  • nice highlight color, gives a slight glow
  • also suitable for light skin
  • this amazing sensation when you apply it, it's AWESOME!
  • easy to apply, gets even
  • a possible MAC dupe for the Magically Cool Liquid Powder

Negatives:
  • it's too shimmery to use it all over your face
  • it's limited
I really really like this powder! The sensation is amazing, I just love how it feels like you brush on water! I just used it with a normal powder brush. You need to be careful about the amount, when you don't have enough product on the brush, the effect won't be as noticeable. I used it all over the face once, and looked all shimmery. It's definitely too much for that.
It's really fun for summer, but you have to know yourself whether you really need it. It's not a thing you really have to have for your daily routine, but it's fun :D
Does anyone own it, too?
Talk to you later!
xoxo, Misch

Polish Finish Series: Jelly

Hey guys!
Today's episode of Polish Finish Series will be about Jelly polishes.
A jelly polish looks kind of similar to the Creme finish *click*, and that is mainly because neither the jelly nor the creme contain any kind of shimmer, glitter whatsoever, they're just one plain color.
But there are a few differences between these two finishes. A jelly is sheerer than a creme, meaning it needs more coats to get opaque. It's also a lot shinier and very glossy already on it's own, without a top coat. When you apply a jelly, it feels a little squishy and spreads nicely, even if it needs more coats, which are usually 3 or 4. Jelly polishes also tend to be more self-leveling than other polishes. They're just jelly-like, they do their name justice. Jellies can also be the base for a glitter polish.
Sometimes it's really hard to tell a jelly from a creme. Some jellies apply like cremes, but look like jellies, and vice versa. It can really depend on you whether you call a polish creme or jelly, it's not always sure.
Unfortunately I don't own a lot of Jelly polishes, so I can only show you 2 OPI polishes.
The first one is Houston We Have A Purple, and it's a berry purple that needs at least 4 coats. Even though OPI calls the finish Sorbet, it's still the same as a jelly. Here *click* I showed it to you on my nails.
The second polish I want to show you is Dating A Royal. This is a jelly, but it definitely leans towards creme. It's a royal blue, needs 3 coats and is very shiny.
Do you like jelly polishes? And do you mind that they take a few coats more?
I'll see you guys soon!

Products I Regret Buying

Hi guys!
I was asked by marox to tell you guys about the products I regret buying. Hope you'll like it :)
I don't have a lot of products I regret buying, because most of the time I read reviews ahead of time and think about the stuff at the store. But there are still a few things I could have saved my money on. Here they are:

Yves Rocher Mild Eye Make-Up Remover *click*: I have no idea whether it was just my eyes or I got a bad bottle, but it smeared, had a horrible scent and didn't even remove regular mascara. A huge fail for me, and paying the full 5 Euros for it really wasn't worth it. Maybe you guys like it, but for me it did not work.

Essence 2in1 Kajal in You&Me: This just does not give any color on my eyes. It's pretty on any swatch, but on my eye I never get an opaque and pretty result. That's really a pity!
Essence Nail Art Cracking Top Coat in Crack me! white: I thought I wanted a white crackling polish, and bought this one. Unfortunately this one barely cracks, there are just a few tiny cracks in it! And I also don't like the effect...

Essence Multi Color Blush in How Cute Is That?: From my review *click* almost a year ago you can tell this is not really the best blush ever. It lacks pigmentation and that way I don't use it.
Catrice Papagena LE Blush Stick in Tigerlilly: You probably knew this would be mentioned here, because I already told you I didn't like it in the review *click* about it. No pigmentation, and melts too easily.
Yves Rocher Sebo Spécific Cleasing Cream *click*: I already once had the cleansing gel from this series and was content with it, and a friend recommended this one. But I just can't stand the scent, and the exfoliation is way too strong for me.

Alverde Gel Eyeliner in Black: Even though I had read this on several blogs, I didn't really pay attention to it. Everyone said it would dry out so so soon. But I still got it and experienced the same. Too bad :/

I believe that's it for this time. I'm sorry I can't show you pictures of all of the things, but I already threw away some of this stuff. With things like the make-up remover I even emptied them!
What you need to remember is that what is a purchase fail for me, can be an excellent product for you. So if you like any of these products, remember that these are on my list, not yours. And I'd like to read about your purchase fails anyway, so leave me some links in the comments :)
Do you like or not like any of the mentioned products?
See ya!

NOTD August 22nd: Zoya - Reva

Hey everyone,
first off sorry for the short break yesterday, I wasn't at home for 2 days and didn't have time to preblog more.
Now let's get into today's polish: Reva by Zoya. This one is from their Sunshine Collection for Summer 2011, and it's another gold glass fleck, like the other two, Rica and Apple, that I showed you.
It's a deep, blue-toned berry pink with that strong gold sparkle, and it needed 3 thin coats. If you paint rather thick, you can get away with 2 coats.
Depending on how the sunlight hits your hand, the gold sparkle can be really obvious or rather more of a glow. I hope you can get an idea of that with the pictures. Enlarge them to see the golden foil fleck shimmer better :)
Do you like this? I sure do :) I really love pinks with gold glass flecks.
I'll see you next time!
xoxo, Misch

Review: Essence Nail Art Pen in Deep Purple

Hi there!
Today's review is about a nail product I've had for quite some time now. It's Essence's Nail Art Pen in Deep Purple, and now I'll tell you what I think about it.
Information:

  • available at most drugstores
  • costs about 1-2 Euros, I don't remember the exact price, sorry
  • looks like a normal pen to write with
  • you have to pump a little to get the color out, that means pressing the tip onto a hard background
  • is NOT waterproof
  • deep purple is a dark creme purple
  • also available in a few other colors
Positives:
  • price
  • availability
  • easy to use
  • the tip is fine, you can do thin lines
  • pretty and opaque color
  • it's not waterproof ---> you make a mistake, you can clean it up easily with water
  • good for beginners with nail art
  • it dries fast
Negatives:
  • it happens sometimes that a big blob of color comes out and messes it all up
  • the tip gets full of polish and smeary stuff over the time
  • it's not waterproof ---> if you forget your topcoat, you're pretty design comes off really easily
  • it dries to a semi-matte finish which I don't really like
just after I applied it
The not waterproof thing is really there: Once you wash your hands, the design comes off immediately. At first I didn't read the packaging where is says so, and was really surprised when it all came off ;) So be aware of that!
dry; see the semi-matte finish?
Other than that, it's a nice product. I don't use it all the time, and since I've got a bit of experience with nail art, I can also use other polishes. But I do recommend it, and if you find a color you like, give it a try!
Does anyone use this one, too?
xoxo, Misch

Blogging-Techniques: Giveaways

Hi there!
A while back, lovely Salander asked me about giveaways, and what I think of them. I'm now just gonna tell you about my opinion, hopefully you'll like it :)
Generally, I think giveaways are nice idea. You get something for your readers, and one or a few of them will be happy with the prize. But there are a few things to keep in mind. First of, you can't give prizes to all of your readers, or at least most don't, and there are always sore losers who just can't be glad for someone else. Then, the prizes are hard to choose. Do you want to give away something special or expensive, or rather a whole bunch of inexpensive stuff. You need to be able to pay for all of it, and the shipping. That leads us to another problem: to what should I open the giveaway? Internationally can be so expensive in terms of shipping costs, but when you just do it for people in your country, there'll most likely be people who complain about it.
What I also really don't like is people who just have a blog to take part in giveaways, and also people who only subscribe to a blog because of the giveaway. If there's a new reader, I want them to be there because of the blog's content and not the giveaway, right? That's why I'm always a little suspicious about blogs who have a large number of readers and a giveaway up every few weeks.
I know this all might sound a bit negative, but it's really not all like that. I think giveaways are a great idea to thank your readers, as long as they all appreciate it. I myself don't take part in them too often, because I tell myself I won't win anyway ;)
I think featured giveaways, meaning with sponsored products are okay, as long as it doesn't get promoted too much.
Personally I right now unfortunately can't afford a giveaway. I hope I'll be able to do one in the future, but there's nothing sure about it. I really wanna thank all of you, and when there'll be a giveaway, I'll make sure you'll all like it :) And I think it's great that I reached 50 subscribers without having to do a giveaway, because it has to mean that you like my blog for its content ;)
I hope this post was the way Salander had wanted it to be :D
Do you have any other requests? And what do you think about this topic?
I'll see you guys soon!
xoxo, Misch
