Blogging-Techniques: Layout

Hey guys!
For this episode of Blogging-Techniques I'll be telling you what is important about the layout and stuff of a blog.
When you are picking out you layout, there are always a few things to keep in mind. Here they are:

• don't make font too small or big: it should be easy to read
• don't make the background too distracting: you want people to look at your post, not the background
• don't use a font color and a background color that are too similar: it's supposed to be easy to read, remember?
• make sure it's all comfortable for the eye: for example a black background and white letters can make the eyes hurt easily
• give enough space to everything that is on your page, you don't want it to be crowded
• make it easy to find something, not too confusing

The best thing is to think about what your reader would like and what not. That's the easiest way! After all, you want your blog to be visually attracting so the reader comes back, right?!

You can always add extensions and stuff to your sidebar, and they can make your blog a lot more personal and also make the layout prettier. For example a search tab, a poll or a "About Me" section can be really interesting and is easy to add. Just go to your layout section on Blogger and add it :)

For my background, I like to use really cute designs, and on http://www.thecutestblogontheblock.com/ you can find really pretty ones for free. I like them a lot!

To me, my banner is another essential part of my layout. Here *click* I showed you in a tutorial how to do it.

After all, what I can mainly tell you is that it's best when you experiment with it. Try out different things, find your style with it, and have fun!

I also like to change my layout every now and then.

Picture Tutorial: Ladybug Nail Art

Hi everyone,
a few days ago I posted a collective nail art post *click*, and asked for what you wanted a tutorial. One of the requested things was the ladybug nails, so I'll start with it! Don't worry, I'll be doing the other requests soon, too :)

That's what you need:
- a base coat of your choice (I used, as always, Essence's Pro White French)
- a true bright red (I used China Glaze - Hey Sailor!)
- a regular black creme (I used p2 - eternal)
- a black polish with a thin brush (I used RdLY Nail Art Pen Black) OPTIONAL
- a white polish (I used Essence Stampy Polish in White)
- a tool, like a toothpick or a dotting tool (I used Essence's Nail Art Stylist)
- a top coat of your choice (mine is, as always, Essence's Nail Art Sealing Top Coat)

That's how to do it:
1. Use your base coat on all of your nails.
2. Paint your full nails with the bright red, use as many coats as needed.

3. Use the black polish to create a black tip, like with French manicure. It's really easy to do this free-hand when you twist your nail while you paint.

4. Take the thin brush with the black polish and make a line that separates your nail in half. If you don't have a black polish with a thin brush, you can use regular polish and a toothpick.

5. Use the tool and the black polish to do the ladybug's dots. You can make them matching, or totally random, depending on how you like it.

6. With the white polish and the tool, make your ladybug's dots. These will add extra cuteness.

7. Seal everything with your top coat.

EOTD July 20th: Neutral Color Pop Variation (again)

Hey there!
Today's look is another variation if the neutral color pop I like to do all the time. For this one, I used the quad "The Season's Must Have" by Catrice, which I reviewed here *click*.

I basically applied the light rosé champagne shade to the inner half of the lid, and the light shimmery gray to the outer half and the crease. The turquoise color's normally not too pigmented, so I used it wet here for the color pop on the lower lash line. The only color I didn't use is the dark gray-ish plum color.

For eyeliner I used Essence's eyeliner pen, and for mascara Maybelline's Great Lash one.

Do you like this look? It's really wearable and not bright at all, so I like it for every day :)

Review: Manhattan Loves Cherry Lips LE - Lipgloss in 45K

Hey there!
A while back, I posted a little haul, and in it there was a lipgloss from the Manhattan Loves Cherry Lips LE. Today I'm finally getting around to the review about it, so here you go:

Information:

• part of the Manhattan Loves Cherry Lips LE, along with 9 other colors
• here *click* on Pinkmelon you can find an overview of the colors
• contains 10 ml
• costs 3,95 Euros
• the shade 45K is a coral-toned red gloss with a lot of shimmer
• it looks like it's a tube gloss, but it actually comes with an applicator

Positives:

• color range
• price is okay
• pretty color that is opaque
• looks really glossy on
• easy to apply with the applicator
• lasts about 2 hours before the glossiness starts to fade
• fades gradually, so it never looks weird
• has a nice sweet fruity scent that isn't too much
• it feels really nice and light on the lips
• it doesn't dry out my lips

due to the bad weather the shimmer wouldn't show up as pretty as it does in real life :/

Negatives:

• is limited
• doesn't last when you eat or drink

As you can tell, I like this gloss a lot! It's so pretty, I wear it all the time!

Away For A Short Time

Hey guys,
I just wanted to let you know that I'll be away for the next three days! My dancing group has been invited to a three day festival, and I'll be there with them. During that time, there will still stuff be up on my blog, since I already pre-blogged a few things. But I unfortunately can't respond to your comments and emails :/ I'm sorry for that, but I just don't have the change or even time to go on the Internet in the next 3 days, so you'll have to wait for your answers till Friday!
I'll see you in three days then, and I hope you'll still read my new posts, even when I'm not there to personally upload them. Let's hope that Blogger does it all right ;)

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 Movie Review

Hey there!
I'm just too excited about this movie, so I had to write a review about it!
First of, a few facts: (all of these are based on the facts here in Germany at my local cinema!)

• it's 130 minutes long
• it's in 3-D
• the official Germany start was 7/14/, but a few cinemas, like mine here, already did previews on 7/13/
• the official US and UK launch was on 7/15/
• it was the last Harry Potter movie ever
• it's completing the last book, the first part came out last November 

Now this review's really hard to write without any spoilers, so I probably won't be able to do that :/ I'm trying to, but let me already warn you ahead of time: If you haven't read the book and/or haven't seen the other movies, this might be a little full of spoilers :/ And if you don't want to know any details yet, because you're gonna watch the movie soon, go ahead and click the little red X on the right corner. Don't tell me afterwards that because of this post you're not looking forward to it anymore, because I warned you :D

Now, the movie starts with repeating the last 30 seconds of the first Deathly Hallows movie, and that's good here. There was luckily no "Previously on Harry Potter" or anything, that was great.
In the beginning, all of the events were really quick one after the other, seeming to be heading directly to the big battle of Hogwarts. But that fact didn't make the movie worse, it was just a little rushing.
To me, in this movie there was the right amount of dramatic, emotional and funny scenes. Everything seemed to be perfect the way it was, and it just all fitted.
The original song, Hedwig's Theme *click*, was used pretty often, and that was great. I love that theme, it just screams Harry Potter, and I liked it that way!
Since I love Harry Potter so much, I would have loved the movie to be way longer, even though 130 minutes are already pretty long! But almost nothing got left out, the only thing that wasn't fully there was Dumbledore's story. It got mentioned, but not as detailed and clear as it is in the books.
Snape's story was one of the highlights in my opinion, it was made really good! I liked that, it worked so well and just completed the story of everything!
Right before the battle started and also during the battle, it all looked so amazing! I found myself staring at the screen when all the spells and enchantments lit it, and it was just so so awesome!
A few scenes were a little bit different than in the books, but it all worked and wasn't weird, even not to a person like me who read the books like a thousand times. I'm not gonna tell you what, though, so it's not all spoiled here and you can see it in the movie :D
Sometimes it got a little sad, when people died and stuff, and it was always the right mix of emotional and dramatic. It just worked with the whole story. But you don't see everyone die in the movie.
The end was good, too, but I have a little mixed feelings about it. When they were at Hogwarts, after the battle was won, I would have wanted it to end. But they did the "19 years later" thing like in the books. It was okay, and it didn't destroy the movie's great image, but to me it just wasn't necessary. The end could have been great without it, too.
All of the effects were done nicely, you could definitely tell that they put a lot of effort and money into it.
The 3-D effect during the whole movie was great! Really good quality, almost no blurry edges or anything, and it was good to watch. Sometimes 3-D can cause a really bad headache, but this one didn't. But it also wasn't used all time. I mean, of course, the complete movie with on exception was in 3-D. But not every second there was something "coming out" of the screen, sometimes the 3-D only made it all look more real.


A few fun facts:
The first sentence in the movie is spoken by Luna, and the first sentence Harry says is a few seconds later, and it is "It's time to talk to the goblin" or something like that ;) I don't know the exact words, since I only saw it in German ;)


After all, I have to say I love love love it!! It was so so awesome! Probably the best Harry Potter EVER! It's the finale, and it's epic, like it's supposed to be. I really have to say, if you are just the tiniest bit of a Harry Potter fan, GO WATCH IT! I think I'm gonna go watch it a second time, because I loved it that much! Harry Potter movies never disappoint, and neither did this one. AWESOME!


To me, Harry Potter's not over just because the last movie came out. Sure, it definitely has a sad touch to it, because there won't be anything new about it now anymore, but Harry Potter's just so epic that it'll go on anyway! I'll never stop watching the movies and reading the books :) <3
