Review: The Body Shop Coconut Shower Cream

Hi there!

Today I'd like to review a shower cream from The Body Shop that I received for Christmas!
Information:
  • The Body Shop Coconut Shower Cream
  • contains 8.4 fl oz/ 250 ml
  • costs 6,50 Euros
  • is soap-free
  • contains Community Fair Trade virgin coconut oil from Samoa
  • has a very thick consistency
Positives:
  • nice coconut scent
  • easy to apply
  • thick consistency
  • very moisturizing
  • you don't necessarily have to use a moisturizer afterwards (even with my rather dry skin)
  • lathers nicely
Negatives:
  • you have to use quite a lot of product
  • price a bit high considering the huge amount needed
After all, I am quite a big fan of this shower cream! I love how deeply it moisturizes my skin, that is really geat and not something a lot of products can achieve. I'd suggest you smell the different versions at the store and decide whether there's something among them for you!
Has anyone of you tried this shower cream?

September Favs

Hey guys!
I know I'm horribly late with this, but better late than never, right?! Here are my favorites for the month of September!
Nivea Body Milk - this is my favorite body product of all time. Whenever it gets colder, I pull this out. It's the perfect moisturizer after a nice shower!

Sebamed Soap-free wash piece - I've been trying this new product for my face, a cleanser! It looks like a soap bar, but it's actually soap-free! It's supposed to support your skin's own processes to keep your skin clean. A review will follow soon!

Sleek Blush by 3 Flame - my friends brought me this blush from London, and it contains the greatest colors! I really love them, especially for fall, they are so great quality! Here *click* is my review on it!

Sephora Cotton Flower Eau de Toilette - this is a cute little scent that I picked up at Sephora during the summer. It smells sweet but also clean, and I really like it!

Essence Longlasting Lipstick 01 Coral Calling - a lovely peachy pink lipstick with a creamy texture. I wore it quite often! Review: *click*.

Well guys, that's it for my favorites for the month of September! What were yours? Let me know!

Review: Lush Dream Cream

Hello everyone!
Today I'd like to review Lush's Dream Cream, a present that I recently received from a lovely friend! :)
Information:
  • Lush Dream Cream
  • a lotion for hands and body
  • vegan
  • contains 230 ml
  • made for sensitive skin
  • is listed on the homepage for 18,95 Euros
  • contains oat milk, rose water, lavender and chamomile
Positives:
  • light texture
  • it's vegan
  • easy to apply
  • nice scent (for me at least)
  • soaks in rather quickly
  • you only need a small amount of product
  • moisturizes nicely
  • lots of good ingredients
Negatives:
  • price
  • it does leave a lotion-y feeling on your body like it leaves a thin residue
  • the scent is definitely not everyone's cup of tea, you have to like it!
I'm personally very happy with this lotion! I use it on my hands pretty much daily, and on the rest of my body whenever I feel like it. I probably would have never gotten it for myself, but it's a great gift I truly appreciate :)
Has anyone of you tried it?

It's already the first of June today, so that means it's time for a favorites post! Here are my May '13 Favs!
Balea Body Butter Sunny Peach - I love the scent of this body butter, it smells so good! And it moisturizes really well, so I used this quite often this month :) Review

Balea Professional Oil Repair Hair Oil - another hair product I used during my vacation. This one really saved my hair, because it gets dry so easily! Love this hair oil! Review
Catrice Geometrix LE Translucent Mattifying Powder - even though this powder doesn't last too long, I still enjoyed using it, as it's very natural and mattifies nicely! Don't mind having to touch it up during the day. Review
Essence Rebels LE Lip & Cheek Pot 01 Peach Punk - a blush from last year that I used again this month. Love the color! Review
Essence Sun Club LE Bronzer 01 De-light-fully Delicious - another old product, a couple of years old already! But the shade of this bronzer still fits me nicely, that's why I still use it!
Essence Wild Craft LE Duo Brush - the paddle side of this brush is what I use to apply my bronzer with. It has the perfect shape for that, love it! Review
Essie Glass Nail File - I got this little nail file with a special deal at a drugstore. It was a gift for every purchase of an Essie nail polish! And I like using this one a lot!

This concludes my favorites for the month of May! Please leave me some links to your favorites posts!

Hello dear readers,
I'm a little late with my April Favorites, but I hope you forgive me :D Here they are:
Catrice FeMALE Cream To Powder Blush C01 A Woman's World - I love love love this blush, I've hit pan quite some time ago and I never stop using it! It was part of a LE over a year ago, and you can see my original review here *click*.
Ebelin Stippling Brush - this brush is really just great. It works lovely for foundation and blush, and I've been using it for both purposes. Here *click* is my review on it.
Ebelin Eyebrow Brush -  this might not really be worth mentioning, as it's just a regular spoolie as you can get it at every drugstore, but I love this one to comb my brows and also brush out sticky lashes. Spoolies can be so handy!
Maybelline Volum' Express Turbo Boost Mascara - I've owned this mascara for quite some time, and already meant to throw it out as I thought it to be empty, but it turned out it wasn't! And I love how this looks on my lashes :) Old review: *click*.
Isana Q10 Body Lotion - this body lotion is really great because it is so light that it's applied in no time and soakes in just as fast. Love that!
Nail Effects: Catrice Nail Sugar Pearls and Essence Nail Effect Powder - and last but not least, nail effects! Even though my reviews on the Catrice Nails Sugar Pearls and the Essence Flocking Powder weren't the most positive ones ever, I still enjoyed wearing these looks!

What were your favorites for the month of April? Feel free to leave me your links in the comments :)

Vacation Series: What To Take With You

Hey everyone!
Today I want to continue my Vacation Series. In this episode I'll be talking about what to take with you on vacation!
First of all, you need to be aware of the climate of the country you're going to. So check out some information on humidity and temperature before you, and then pack your stuff accordingly.
Since it's a very popular vacation destination, I'll talk about what to take with you when you're visiting the beach in a warm region.
In general, I think that on vacation at the beach, less is more in terms of cosmetics. It'll be warm, and you rather want to look natural than wear a lot of heavy stuff on your face! Make sure to go for key products you can rely on, and that can be used for a lot of different looks. When you travel you don't have a lot of space most of the time, so try to narrow them down to the really important things. Let's get into what to pack exactly!
First of all, the most important stuff: sun screen. Here *click* I already talked about how important it is, and you just must not forget to take it with you! Then it's also very important to take a good moisturizer with you! I always take my regular skin care routine products with me, then my skin won't have problems because it's used to the products. Other than that, you'll need shower things to take care of your body. A good shower gel and body lotion will do, and if you have to shave, you can use your shower gel instead of taking an extra shaving cream. That's about it concerning care products!
To take care of your hair, pack something that is caring and cleansing nicely. If you have to be quick, you can go for a 2in1 product. I don't think it's necessary to pack a lot of extra products, you can do masks and use leave-ins when you're back.
Now, concerning make-up: like I already said, less is more. For your face, take either a light foundation or a tinted moisturizer so you won't sweat as much. Go for a mattifying powder as well to reduce shine. Mascara is always good, and maybe you even want to get a waterproof one to use all day. I'd recommend taking a nice blush, and a good idea for that is cream blush. You don't necessarily have to pack a brush for it, and you can use it on your lips as well! The last thing I'd take is lipgloss, it can always be worn.
If you want to go out at night, I'd maybe also take an eyeliner with me. Eyeshadow can be nice, too, but that would be mean packing brushes and different colors/palettes and an eyeshadow base and that is a lot of stuff!
You also really don't need to pack a whole lot of colors! A friend of mine once packed 5 colors of blush for a 3-day-trip, in case she might be in the mood for one of the colors. That's crazy, it's fully okay to wear 1 shade of blush or lipstick for a couple of days!
The last thing to keep in mind is the way you pack your stuff, because when you are in a hot country, chances are that some products might melt, and you want to avoid that.
What kind of cosmetics do you pack when you go on vacation?
xoxo, Misch

Vacation Series: Taking Care Of Your Skin

Hi guys!
In the last post of this series, *click*, I covered everything concerning sun protection, and now I want to talk about what to do with your skin after a day in the sun.
Now, the really important thing is that you really take care of your skin. Some people think, it's summer, it's warm, and therefore you don't need to moisturize, or not as much as in the winter. Wrong! Your skin always needs care and moisture. That is really really important! You want to have pretty skin after all, especially when you wear shorter clothes in summer.
After you've spend a day in the sun, you should always apply lotion to your full body, and there are some made especially for that, the so-called Après-Lotions. Après is french and means after. These products are sometimes also called After-sun-lotions.They're made for the needs of your skin after you've been out in the sun all day. What you want to do is put a lot of moisture back into your skin, and that's what these products do. Some also have a cooling effect, so in case you got sunburned it'll help you. It's gonna calm your skin. Another positive part of these lotions is that they have a super light gel-like formula most of the time. That way it's not sticky and you also won't sweat more because you're not wearing any heavy creme!
I always use these après-lotions after I've been in the sun, and this year I got the ones from Rossmann's brand SunOzon. One is a after sun fluid especially for the more sensitive face skin, and the other one is a regular lotion for my body.
In general, moisturizing is super important! And don't forget to use special products on the rest of your body! A nice lip balm for your lips and maybe a hair mask for your hair! You can also always use regular body lotion and not the après stuff.
The rule to keep in mind is to give your body some attention and to take care of it! Hydration is key!
What do you like to use after a day in the sun?

May 2012 Favorites

Hey there!
Even though I'm away right now, I still didn't forget to schedule my favorites for the month of May! Here you go:
Essence Rebels LE Lip&Cheek Pot - You guys know I love this blush, it's so pretty and I've been using it all month long :) Here *click* is my review on it.
Hipp Baby Shampoo - my scalp's been super sensitive lately, so I switched to using baby shampoo! This one is just our local brand, there are a lot of different ones available. So far my scalp feels great, but I gotta test it in the long run to see how it actually works for me!
SunOzon Sun Fluid for the face - I've been looking for a sunscreen for just my face for a long time and finally found this one at my local Rossmann. I tried it a few times now and love it so far! During my vacation it'll have to prove how good it is, and a review will follow.
Isana Q10 Bodylotion - I actually took this one from my Mom ;) It's a body lotion made for older skin, because it's supposed to tighten it a little. Even though I don't really need that yet, I love the scent and the light consistency that I used it all month long :D
Maybelline Volum' Express Turbo Boost Mascara - I just finished my Rival de Loop Ultimate Volume Mascara, which I loved, but I decided to try a new one. Maybelline's Volum' Express Turbo Boost Mascara is one I never tried before, but so far I like it. Review will follow.
Alterra Caring Lipstick 06 Coral - I love love love this lipstick, the color is so pretty and nice for summer! It's a dark coral, but still great for every day. Great one!

So guys, these were my favorites for the month of May! What were yours? I'm really curious!
See you soon,
xoxo, Misch

Vacation Series: Sun Protection

Hey there!
Today I want to start with the first post of my Vacation Series, and I want to talk about Sun Protection and SPF.
In general, using products with SPF is really important, and it can be either actual sunscreen or a SPF included in your foundation/moisturizer. A lot of skin products nowadays come with a SPF or a uva/uvb protection anyway, so that is a good way to start. The reason to use a sun protection is to prevent the damage the sun can cause. Protecting your skin from getting sunburned will help prevent premature wrinkles and also skin cancer.
And especially when you spend your time outside in summer, at the beach or just somewhere where you're under the sun all the time, it's super important to protect yourself! I'd say you should always choose a rather high SPF, personally I always go for 30. But don't ever get something lower than 20! And even if you hardly ever get sunburned and you just tan right away, or are already a darker skin tone, still use your SPF! It's just better for your skin!
This doesn't only apply to your face, but also to the rest of your body! Always always apply sunscreen before you go to the beach, and do that already about an hour earlier, so the SPF can fully work. Also, don't forget to reapply your sunscreen during the day! Even if your sunscreen is waterproof, it'll fade eventually and you want your protection to be there all the time.
To enhance your protection make sure you wear clothes and spend some time in the shade! No body will be happy with spending hours and hours in just a bikini in the direct sun!
There are also sunscreens available for all things one can imagine, with a self-tanning effect, with anti-aging properties, for sensitive skin, with an extra-high SPF of 50+, as a creme, an oil, a spray,... just check your drugstore! The selection is especially big in summer. I always get the normal SPF 30 ones. Also, I'm not a big fan of using normal sunscreen on my face, because it's always so sticky and shiny and clogs my pores. So I found this Face Fluid at my local drugstore! It's such a good idea, made for the face especially, and I can't wait to try it at the beach :) A review will follow when I'm back from my vacation.
And, as an extra thing, I got myself a hair protection spray. I don't know whether it'll help my scalp or hair or anything, but I thought it'd be a good thing to try. Do you know anything about hair sun protection sprays?
I think sun protection is such an important thing, especially during the hot summer, and that's the reason why I chose it as the beginning episode of this series. Hope you found it helpful!
In the next episode I'll be talking about how to take care of your skin after a day in the sun.
See you soon!
xoxo, Misch
