2012 End Of Year Tag

Hi you guys!
It's New Years Eve everyone! Just like 2011, why not end the year with a TAG about 2012? Here you go:
Feelings towards 2013?
Anticipation, even though it doesn't really feel like a whole new beginning, just like the next day. Don't know, it doesn't feel like this year is already over!
Done in 2012 for the first time?
Been really really drunk :D Maybe not something to be proud of, but I guess everyone experiences this once :D Before, I've always stuck to my limit, but not this time :D
Unfortunately not done in 2012?
Celebrated my birthday! I wish I'd had a great party, but I just never did!
Word of the year?
Unicorn :D My sister and I loved this one :D
Gained or lost weight?
I think neither! Must have stayed about the same :)
City of the year?
Berlin, where I spent a lovely school trip with my great great class :)
Alcohol & parties?
Yes, quite a few parties this year :D A lot was going on this summer!
Hair longer or shorter?
I didn't really change it, cut off the tips then let it grow back, so I don't think it's significantly longer or shorter now!
More or less money spent?
More, definitely! I did so many cool things this year, and with all of the partying and going out I spent a lot of money!
Highest phone bill?
Still don't have an actual phone bill, I have a pre-paid cell :D
Been to the hospital?
No, not once! Not even to visit someone!
Been in love?
Not really :D Nothing more than a crush that's already over.
Most called person?
My mom probably :D I call her all the time just to let her know something or so, she really is my most-called person!
The best time spent with?
With both friends and family :) I did super cool stuff this year, made great new friends and everything :)
Most of the time spent with?
Again friends and family. Not one single person, I think I divided my time quite well :)
Song of the year?
No special one, but I guess what I most listened to this year was random Jack Johnson songs.
Book of the year?
Other than Harry Potter, of course, I'd say the Castle series, with Heat Wave, Naked Heat and Heat Rises.
TV-series of the year?
Just like with the books, Castle. I watched this once a week with my family, regularly :)
Realization of the year?
That you shouldn't care too much about what people think of you!
Something of the year you could do without?
Some stupid rumors, hangovers, fights, just little things like that!
Greatest event?
Our dancing show in July because it was huge and awesome!
2012 in one word?
Extraordinary!

2012 really was super special and great year, I had such a great time! It was also fantastic for this blog, I'm very happy about that :) Let's hope 2013 will be even better!
Have a happy and safe New Year's Eve, and I'll see you 2013! :D

NOTD December 30th: Essence Fantasia LE 03 Take A Ride On Pegasus

Hey there!
Today I'd like to show you a nail polish from Essence's Fantasia LE, called 03 Take A Ride On Pegasus.
Take A Ride On Pegasus is a dark red-toned purplish rosewood pink with a frosty shimmer. The shimmer is actually a duo-chrome, it changes from a pinkish silver shimmer to a green one at some angles!
Application was good, at first it was very very sheer but with 3 coats it built up quite well. It's also not even brush-strokey, even though the frosty shimmer would suggest that.
I really like this shade, however the pretty green shimmer is rarely visible, it doesn't look too much like a duo-chrome most of the time. Also, in dull lighting it looks a little like a Grandma color, I don't know, it reminds me of what my Grandma would wear :D But it's still pretty!
What do you think of it?

NOTD December 28th: Essie - Merino Cool

Hey guys,
today I have Essie's Merino Cool to show you!
Merino Cool is a pewter gray shade with a slight purple undertone. In the bottle it looks a lot more purple than it does on the nail where it's just somewhat of a gray color. It's a creme.
Application was good, the consistency is on the rather thin side and it spreads easily. Used 2 coats here.
Merino Cool was originally part of the Essie Fall 2010 Collection, but as far as I know you should still be able to get this one.
I really like this shade, it's a nice change from all of the Christmas colors and designs I've been wearing lately! Needed something different :D

Christmas Presents

Hey there!
I hope you had wonderful holidays spent with your loved ones and that you all enjoyed yourselves :) I took  a couple of days just to spend with my family, and it was fantastic :)
But even now that Christmas is over, I thought we could still talk about it :D I'd like to show you the stuff I got my friends for Christmas. I had actually planned to do this earlier, but I couldn't until Christmas as I was afraid they'd see it :D
My friends and I decided this year to just get each other tiny little things, just a few mini-presents, nothing fancy. It was still really cool to pick out tiny presents for my friends :) Here are the things:
scented candle + essential oil for fragrant oil burner
various bathing products
self-decorated cones
wrapped presents
self-made Christmas cards

candy
wrapping stuff and decorations

Christmas-themed lollies
beads for a bracelet
Tomorrow I'll be showing you what others got me for Christmas, as long as you want to see that :)
What did you give away this year?

NOTD December 20th: Holly Nail Art

Hi guys,
here *click* I showed you Catrice's Rest In The Forest from their Siberian Call LE, and now I'd like to show you some Christmas nail art I did with it.
Leaving it as a background shade, I added hollies on top of it! I already did very similar Holly nails last holiday season here *click*, and I liked them so much that I created them again :)
Super simple and very pretty, don't you agree?

The Hobbit Movie Review

Hey there!
I seem to be going to the movies a lot lately, I have another movie review for you today! I hope you enjoy reading these :)
The Hobbit is the first movie in a series of 3 prequels to the Lord Of The Rings movie series. I have to admit, even though it's so famous, I haven't watched any of the Lord Of The Rings movies before I saw The Hobbit. As it is a prequel, you can understand it without having seen the series, but there are a few parts when you don't really get what is going on. Having watched the first LOTR movie after seeing The Hobbit, I can say that afterwards the story was a lot clearer to me and I actually understood some puns and jokes way better. Having seen the LOTR helps!
Now, The Hobbit plays 60 years before the time the Lord Of The Rings series takes place. It's gonna be a trilogy, this is just the first movie out of it which still was almost 3 hours long. I did not find this long time too much or boring, however, because it was filled very well with details and was always thrilling. No scene felt like rushing, and even though some events were taking place right one after the other I never thought it was too fast. However, some scenes were kinda hard to follow with the eyes in my opinion, a lot to take up.
It was in 3D, and the quality was really good, I didn't find it blurry.
I liked how there was always suspense going on, fights taking place, from time to time some jokes, I really liked that. It was very interesting.
Also, the whole world of The Lord Of The Rings, all of the creatures, places and powers are truly mesmerizing and fascinating. It's was full of fantasy and magic, I liked that especially.
After all, I enjoyed watching it and can definitely recommend it if you're a fan of the genre.
Has anyone of you seen it?

NOTD December 18th: Catrice Siberian Call LE C04 Rest In The Forest

Hey there!
Today I'd like to show you a nail polish from Catrice's current Siberian Call LE, C04 Rest In The Forest.
Rest In The Forest is a very shimmery, foil-like silver shade. It's kinda frosty but not prone to brush strokes. There are some purple parts to it, flashing in direct light.
Application was okay, at first it was very sheer, but I was able to get it opaque with 3 coats. Consistency is great, no issues here.
I really like how the purple shimmer makes it rather unique, and that way it's also different from plain silver foils. If you like the color, I recommend getting it :)
What do you think of it?

Christmas

Hey there!
We're nearing Christmas, only one more week to go!
And as some of you might still be getting some shopping done, I wanted to share my Gift Guide with you guys! I was wondering whether I should do one this year, but I figured it wouldn't be much different from the one I did last year. So, instead of re-writing it, I'm leaving you with the links to the old ones so you can pick out what you need :)
Christmas Gift Guide on Books
Christmas Gift Guide on Make-up
Christmas Gift Guide on Presents for Boys
Christmas Gift Guide on Personalized Stuff
If you think there's an important category I haven't talked about yet, please let me know, I'd love to do it now!
I'd love to show you what I'm giving away this year, but I'm afraid they'll see it on here, as some of my friends sometimes check out my blog, so I'll only be showing it when I've already given them the presents :D
What will you be giving away this Christmas?

Spotted: Catrice NEONaturals LE

Hey there!
Today I'd like to talk about another current Catrice LE, called NEONaturals.
This LE contains 6 bright colored nail polishes, 6 nude nail polishes and 1 set of a nail art brush and french manicure tip guides. Here *click* you can find an overview of the products.
The bright nail polishes are all neon shades, from yellow over pink to purple everything included. They're all cremes, or at least looked like that. The colors are all very vibrant, but don't look very unique.
The nude nail polishes are actually quite interesting, some of them contains special kinds of shimmer. They're not boring, but still not so convincing for me to get them.
The little nail art set contains a nail art brush and a set of french manicure tip guides. The brush looked to thick for what I like to use for nail art, and I also wouldn't use the tip guides.

After all, not so much of an interesting LE for me, I'd preferred something that's appropriate for the season!
What do you think of it?

NOTD December 14th: Snowflake Nail Art

Hi guys!
Today I'd like to show you a snowflake nail art design, very pretty not only for the holiday but also the whole winter season.
For this design I did a background in a dark blackened blue shade, here it's Essence Breaking Dawn Part 2 LE 01 Jacob's Protection, and sponged on a silver gradient for the glittering snow, here with OPI - Designer...De Better! from last year's Muppet Collection. Lastly I drew on the snowflakes using regular white polish. Alternating small and big ones, I filled all my nails with them. Here it's best using a striping brush for the small details.
I really love this design, it's very delicate and pretty :)
What do you think of this?

Spotted: Catrice Siberian Call LE

Hey there!
Today I'd like to talk about Catrice's current LE, called Siberian Call. It's a winter-themed one, as the name already implies.
This LE contains 4 baked eyeshadows, 3 lip creams, 1 lipgloss top coat, 2 cream to powder blushes and 5 nail polishes. Here *click* you can see an overview of all of the products.
The baked eyeshadows are mostly warm, three of them in brownish shades. They're very shimmery, not to say glittery, and seemed to be quite well pigmented. However, I could imagine they'd tend to cause fall out.
The lip creams come in 3 warm shades, either with a little shimmer or none at all. The colors are very natural, but I think that they could be too warm and brown-toned for some people, just like me.
The lipgloss top coat is a clear gloss with glitter particles in it. Not so much my taste.
The cream to powder blushes looked good, and I was tempted to buy one of them. However, when I looked closely, I first of all found the darker coral/orange one very similar to the Essence Rebels LE Lip&Cheek Pot 01 Peach Punk *click*. Maybe the Catrice one is a little less bright, but they still seemed too similar for my taste. The other blush is of a salmon kind of shade, and I didn't like it with my skin tone unfortunately. They both don't contain any shimmer.
Last but not least, the nail polishes. Great variety of shimmers, glitters and cremes, and all nice shades. I picked out the most unique one, called C04 Rest In The Forest. It's a very shimmery, foil-like silver shade with purple tones to it, and I think it's very pretty for the cold season.
After all, I didn't like this LE as much as I expected to. Somehow the mix of some very warm and some very cold shades didn't work for me as much, or is this kind of contrast wanted? Still, seems a little odd, especially for the Siberian Call theme.
What do you think of it?

NOTD December 11th: Glittery Christmas Gradient

Hey guys,
today I'd like to show you a simple yet pretty NOTD!
Combining all kinds of Christmas colors and glitter, I made a gradient :) As a base color I chose a gold foil, which is OPI Rising Star in this case. Then I sponged the tips with China Glaze Twinkle Lights. It's basically Christmas in a bottle, consisting of red, green and gold glitter.
I think it's super fun and full of Christmas spirit :) Very festive! What do you think?

Movie Review: Breaking Dawn Part 2

Hey there!
This weekend I went to see the new and last Twilight movie, Breaking Dawn Part 2, together with a bunch of friends, and I'd like to share my thoughts on it!
You have to know, first of all, that I'm torn concerning Twilight. I adored the books, read them all multiple times, but I'm extremely disappointed by the movie series, I don't think they're good or do the books justice. However, I still had to see the last movie of course :D
Now, let's get into the review. I'll try not to put any spoilers in it! But if you haven't even read the book, you might not wanna go on reading here so you won't be spoiled :D
So, the beginning of the movie, the intro, was kinda cool. In some way it reminded me of the James Bond Skyfall intro! The next couple of things happening were a little too rushing and short for my liking. It felt like they kept it extra short so they'd have more time in the end! And I believe if you didn't read the book, it'd be a little hard to follow all of the events.
I liked it when it came to finding friends to help, all of those new vampires were really cool! I'm especially a fan of Benjamin, who is exactly the way I expected him to be :)
Towards the end, it didn't rush as much anymore, leaving lots of time for the battle/meeting with the Volturi. Now there's this one moment in the movie when a scene comes up that is not at all like it happens in the book. This is very hard to describe without spoilers, so let's keep it at that: it's a jaw-dropping scene, very surprising! It's actually quite a cool part in my opinion, good to bring some action into it. The end, however, works just the way it did in the book.
I liked Renesmee, she's cute, and I liked a couple of funny scenes, as well as the very end with the closing credits, that was nice. I didn't like that it got very soupy at a couple of parts, and how it's still not even close to the books.
After all, I don't regret watching it, and considering it's a Twilight movie, it's not even that bad. If you're a fan, this is a must for you, if not, you're not really missing out if you don't see it.
Has anyone of you seen it?

NOTD December 8th: Santa Nail Art

Hey guys!
Today I'd like to show you another pretty Christmas design, and this time it's Santa!
Using small brushes, I painted everything from his face to his coat and hat, as well as his sack full of presents. I think it's very cute :D
What do you think of it? Do you want a tutorial for any of the little designs?

Book Review: Richard Castle - Naked Heat

Hey there!
Today I'd like to share a book with you guys, Naked Heat by Richard Castle. It's a sequel for Heat Wave which I reviewed here *click*. I strongly suggest you read that review first, because it'll help you understand this one :)
This is again a book for the TV series Castle, not with the exact plot of an episode, but there are similarities.
Naked Heat goes on with the story of Detective Nikki Heat, just a little after where the last book ended. Just like the other book and the TV show, it starts with a crime scene, and that way our second main character, Rook, is again included.
This book gets even more active than the previous one, with our main characters actually being involved in scenes of violence and crime. It's very exciting and thrilling again, you always want to find out more and read on :D
I also like the style of writing a lot, it's very entertaining and fun :) I enjoyed reading it! :)
Did anyone of you read this book?

NOTD December 6th: RdLY French Manicure White Look + China Glaze Snow Globe

Hey there!
Today I'd like to show you a snowy, icy layering, perfect for winter :)
As a base I used RdLY's French Manicure White Look, which is a sheer white polish. It's extremely shiny and jelly-like.
It has a rather thin and sheer consistency, but it glides on. It's patchy at first, and you'll be able to tell your nail line. It still builds up nicely, though, as you can see here with 3 coats.
On top of it I added a layer of China Glaze's Snow Globe, which is a clear base with iridescent glitter particles, really similar to those some snow globes contain. It's very delicate and pretty over the white!
What do you think of this combo? I like it :)
Have a happy Nikolaus day everyone!
xoxo, Misch
