Review: Maybelline Volum' Express Turbo Boost Mascara

Hey there!
A couple of days ago I already shared a review about Catrice's Lashes To Kill Mascara, and now I want to talk about the other mascara I'm using at the moment, Maybelline's Volum' Express Turbo Boost Mascara.
Information:
  • Maybelline Volum' Express Turbo Boost Mascara
  • part of the Maybelline permanent line
  • contains 10 ml
  • costs 4,75 Euros
  • shade: black
  • promises a lot of volume
Positives:
  • price is okay
  • nice black opaque color
  • has a nice normal-sized wand
  • it easy to apply
  • it doesn't smudge easily
  • it lengthens nicely
  • it has a very natural look
Negatives:
  • it doesn't volumize like it promises, there's almost no effect visible
  • it doesn't separate your lashes
  • your lashes will stick together easily, especially with multiple coats
After all, I'm a little torn. It's a great day-to-day mascara, but it just doesn't keep its promises! I wish it would be a little more volumizing, and that is the reason why I probably won't get this one again.
Has anyone of you tried it?

NOTD September 29th: Essence - I'm So Very

Hi guys!
Today I'd like to show you another one of Essence's permanent nail polishes, the shade I'm So Very.
I'm So Very is a burnt red orange shade. It's very bright and not muted at all, and yet it falls perfectly into the fall shade of orange category. It's a creme.
Application of I'm So Very was good, it was neither thick or thin. I did 2 coats of it which was totally enough.
I'm really happy about this shade! It's super bright, but it's still a fall shade :)
What do you think about it?

Review: Essence Ready For Boarding LE Lip&Cheek Cream 01 Sending You Kisses

Hey guys!
Today I'd like to post a review I should have done weeks ago, so sorry I'm so late with it! I'm talking about the Essence Ready For Boarding LE Lip&Cheek Cream 01 Sending You Kisses. It was part of a LE in June, but I thought maybe it's still available somewhere, and a review could still be useful :)
Information:
  • Essence Ready For Boarding LE, June 2012
  • Lip&Cheek Cream 01 Sending You Kisses
  • a creme blush that can also be used on the lips
  • very deep berry pink color, no shimmer
  • contains 2,5g
  • costs 2,45 Euros
Positives:
  • price
  • nice light consistency
  • very pretty dark pink shade
  • 2 possibilities for use: lips and cheeks
  • good to apply with brush
  • good pigmentation
Negatives:
  • it's limited
  • it enhances dry lips
  • you have to use brushes with it
  • you overblush very very easily
  • it's not that easy to blend
After all, I have mixed feelings about this lip&cheek creme. I really like to use it when I want the focus on my cheeks, and it's a really pretty shade. But it's definitely nothing for beginners with make-up! Overblushing happens so fast with this one, I have to be super careful! I'd recommend it if you have a little experience with blushes :)
What do you guys think of it?

NOTD September 27th: Essence Re-Mix Your Style LE - 06 Show Me The Way + Gradient

Hey there!
Today I'd like to show you a nail polish from last year's Re-Mix Your Style LE by Essence. I got this one, loved it, and then somehow forgot all about it. So now I'm wearing Show Me The Way a year too late :D
Show Me The Way is a dark teal creme. To me this is actually the perfect shade of teal, right in the middle of blue and green.
Application was good, it was on the rather thin side so I ended up doing 3 thin coats. It all worked easily :)
After wearing it for a day, I decided to add some more color. With a make-up sponge I created a gradient, using Zoya - Apple for the tips. It's super pretty in my opinion :)
What do you think of it?

Review: Catrice Lashes To Kill Ultra Black Mascara

Hey guys!
Today I'd like to review a mascara I've been using for quite a while now!
Information:
  • Catrice Lashes To Kill Ultra Black Mascara
  • available at every drugstore that carries Catrice
  • contains 10ml
  • costs 3,99 Euros
  • is in the shade Ultra Black
Positives:
  • price
  • nice consistency, neither too thick nor too thin
  • really pigmented black color
  • lengthens the lashes nicely
  • easy to apply
  • doesn't smear
Negatives:
  • doesn't add as much volume as it promises
  • it will stick your lashes together when you use multiple coats
After all, I like this mascara. It's nice for daily use, and I'm glad I own it. For the low price, you really can't do anything wrong with purchasing it.
Has anyone of you tried it?

NOTD September 25th: Essence - Party Princess

Hey there!
Today's polish is Essence's Party Princess, yay :D Don't you just love the name?!
Party Princess is a sheer, slightly tinted pink base with multi-colored glitter in it. The glitter color changes a little from angle to angle, it's super sparkly. It's more of a topper actually.
Application was okay, but the polish is really thick. I ended up doing 3 coats, and you can still see my natural nails underneath. It's not meant to be opaque.
I like this polish, also not fully opaque on its own. But I think I'll have to layer it over some other polish for an effect, that could be cool, too :)
What do you think of it?

October LE Previews

Hey there!
For the month of October I already showed you 2 Essence previews here *click*. Now more LE promo pics have been released, I gotta show them to you :)
Catrice's LE for October will be another Big City Life one. They already launched one of this type last fall, and this time it's a similar thing. It's inspired by 3 cities, Paris, San Francisco and Shanghai, and for each city there'll be an eyeshadow palette and a nail polish. I think all of the products look nice, and they also put a mascara from the permanent line in it. Here *click* you can see the stuff. I'm not sure whether I'll be getting anything, we'll see :)
The other preview I have for you guys is from Essence, with their annual hand lotion winter LE! All of this year's scents sound so good, and I have high hopes that they'll smell as great as they sound! Here *click* you can see them.
What do you think of this LE? Nothing too exciting in my opinion.

NOTD September 23rd: Essence - Do You Speak Love?

Hey everyone,
today I have Essence's Do You Speak Love? to show you guys :)
Do You Speak Love? is a deep blue-toned red, kind of like those bloody reds. It's super shiny already on its own.
Application was nice, it's super squishy and glides on easily. I only needed 2 coats :)
This shade of red might not be the most unique one - think Kiko 240 or Essie Limited Addiction - but it's so pretty and everyone should have this kind of red in their collection in my opinion.
Do you like it?
xoxo, Misch

Review: Catrice Hollywood's Fabulous 40ties LE Multi Color Blush C01 Gone With The Wind

Hey guys,
today I'd like to talk about the last product from Catrice's Hollywood's Fabulous 40ties LE, the Multi Color Blush C01 Gone With The Wind.
Information:
  • Catrice Multi Color Blush C01 Gone With The Wind
  • part of the Hollywood's Fabulous 40ties LE, September 2012
  • contains 8.5 g
  • costs 3,99 Euros
  • it's a combination of a pressed and baked blush
  • it's a matte coral pink base color with lighter and darker sprinkles

Positives:
  • price
  • color
  • pigmentation is nice but not too much
  • matte
  • easy to apply
  • easy to blend
  • looks natural

Negatives:
  • it's limited
  • you could overdo it, it's not that much of a light color
  • the sprinkles fade with use

after usage: the sprinkles fade
After all, I really like this blush! It's super pretty, I use it every day, just because it works great for that :) It might not be the most original blush ever, but I'm glad I own it :)
What do you think of it?

NOTD September 21st: Essence - Free Hugs

Hi guys,
today I want to show you Free Hugs by Essence, a polish that's been part of the permanent line for about a month now, it's rather new.
Free Hugs is a light bubblegum pink creme. It looks a little to pastel in the pictures, in real life it's a little brighter. It definitely falls into the category of light Barbie pinks :D
Application was good, way better than you'd expect from a light pink! It was opaque with 2 coats, and the formula was creamy but not thick.
I actually really love this shade! It's super girly and cute, and I'm sure I'll use it for nail art some time :)
What do you think of it? Is it too pink for you?
xoxo, Misch

Review: Catrice Hollywood's Fabulous 40ties LE Eyebrow Lifter C01 Casablanca's Highlight

Hi there!
Today I'd like to review the Eyebrow Lifter from Catrice's Hollywood's Fabulous 40ties LE :)
Information:
  • Catrice Eyebrow Lifter C01 Casablanca's Highlight
  • part of the  Hollywood's Fabulous 40ties LE, September 2012
  • is like a thicker eyeliner pencil
  • the color's a very light natural pink
  • it contains 3g
  • it costs 2,95 Euros
  • it's meant to be a highlighting pencil for your eyebrow area
  • it contains carmine

Positives:
  • price
  • good pigmentation
  • very creamy
  • easy to apply
  • easy to blend
  • you can use it underneath your brow, in your inner corner and on the waterline
  • the light pink neutralizes blue shading around the eyes
  • is a possible dupe for Benefit's HighBrow
  • lasts all day on your eye area
  • lasts for a couple of hours on your waterline, then fades gradually

Negatives:
  • it's limited
  • it's bigger than normal eyeliner pencils, so you need a bigger sharpener for it (the one that comes with the double sharpeners works fine)
  • it can enhance dry skin underneath your brow

used lightly underneath the brow, in the inner corner and on the waterline
After all, I'm super happy with this product :) It's great for a daily use, I love it in the morning because it makes me look way more awake :)
What do you think of this one?

NOTD September 19th: Essence - I Love Bad Boys

Hi there!
Today I want to show you Essence's I Love Bad Boys, one of their new nail polishes.
I Love Bad Boys is a light blue shade, with small blue shimmer flakes. It reminds me a little of a pool, like some aqua kind of color. The shimmer is also visible, enlarge the pictures to see that!
Application was good, even though it was a tiny bit thick. I used 3 coats for the pictures, but I could have left it at 2, the last one really wasn't needed.
I really like this polish! I Love Bad Boys is super pretty and also looks good with my skin tone in my opinion. :)
I'm sorry for showing you just NOTDs, but I'm so in the mood to paint my nails :D Hope you don't mind!
What do you think of it?

NOTD September 18th: Catrice Hollywood's Fabulous 40ties LE - C03 Marlene's Favorite

Hey there!
Today I want to show you the nail polish I got from Catrice's Hollywood's Fabulous 4ties LE, called C03 Marlene's Favorite. Here *click* I already showed you the collection.
Marlene's Favorite is a dusty coral pink, it's very muted and has rosewood tones to it. It's a creme.
Application was great, it's super shiny and glides on. At first it was a bit patchy, but it evened out perfectly with two coats.
It actually reminds me a little of OPI Java Mauve-A, but Marlene's Favorite is a more coral toned and warmer.
What do you think of it?
xoxo, Misch

NOTD September 17th: Essence - L.O.L.

Hey everyone!
Today I want to show you a new Essence polish, called L.O.L.
L.O.L. is a light yellow-toned green creme. It's kind of a shrek shade, not exactly pretty :D It's also very bright!
Application was good, it's super creamy but in a good way, and it wasn't as streaky as I expected it to be. If you're a thicker painter you can get away with 2 coats, but I did 3 here.
L.O.L. reminds me a little of Rebelizer from Essence's Rebels LE *click*, but I don't think L.O.L. looks as flattering on me. I'm not exactly a big fan of the shade, I guess you have to like it :D
What do you think of it?
xoxo, Misch
