Review: Ebelin Professional Stippling Brush

Hey there!
Today I'd like to review a brush I got recently, the new Stippling Brush by Ebelin.

Information:

• Ebelin "Mineral Powder Brush", actually a stippling brush
• part of the Professional line
• made of black bristles with white tips
• can be used for mineral powder, foundation, blush
• costs 3,95 Euros
• available at dm

Positives:

• price
• very soft bristles
• easy to clean
• lots of possibilities to use it
• blends mineral powder really well into your skin
• works perfect for blush, also cream blush, blends very well here too
• is pretty much awesome for foundation, gives you a perfectly natural finish with great coverage at the same time!
• doesn't lose any bristles

Negatives:

• smelled quite bad at first, but that went away with a couple of washes

After all, I'm so so happy with this brush! I utterly love it and highly recommend it!

NOTD April 11th: Essie - Marshmallow

Hey there!
Today I'd like to show you guys Marshmallow by Essie.

Marshmallow is a sheer white jelly. It is very shiny and gives a milky look.
Application was great, shown here are 3 coats, which it definitely needed. At first it was quite streaky, but it got even in the end.
I already showed you Marshmallow as a base for China Glaze - Whirled Away here *click*.

It's a nice palate cleanser, but it does give me red hands. Don't mind, though, I love how clean it looks :)

Nail Art Tutorial: Double Animal Print

Hi guys!
Today I'd like to show you a nail art tutorial! I've been asked by a lovely reader to do a tutorial on my Double Animal Print nails *click*, and even though the design isn't from me but Kayla Shevonne, I was more than happy do one :)

This is what you need:

• base coat of your choice
• 2 contrasting nail polishes: here I chose a darker pink (Essie - Exotic Liras) and a turquoise (OPI - Fly). I find that creme shades work best as they don't pull the attention off the print. In my original NOTD I used a lighter pink, but feel free to change that as you please.
• a black or white nail polish, in the best case with a striping brush. In this tutorial I tried how it would look with a white print, but you can always change that to black like in my original NOTD.
• a toothpick or dotting tool to create the design
• a top coat of your choice

This is how to do it:

1. Use your base coat to protect your natural nails.
2. Apply your lighter shade of color, in this case the pink, all over your nail.
   
3. Now paint a little more than half of your nail with the darker color. For this you can use the actual brush of the polish. Make sure the vertical line is rather straight.
   
4. Now you wanna grab your black/white nail polish and your dotting tool/toothpick, because we'll start off with the cheetah print. For that, draw random shapes of dots, circles and Cs on the pink part of your nail. They don't need to be accurate at all.
   
5. It's time for the zebra print now! Take your black/white nail polish with the thin striping brush to create them. If you don't own a polish like that, you could always use a thin paint brush or even a toothpick. That'll work just fine! Make random stripes on the turquoise part of your nail, coming from both sides and also touching each other. Be creative here!
   
   
6. Let it dry for quite a while, so you won't smear it, and then add your top coat to make it last longer.

NOTD April 9th: China Glaze - Raspberry Festival

Hi guys!
Today I'd like to show you Raspberry Festival by China Glaze!

Raspberry festival is a pink-leaning cherry red shade. It has a glass fleck finish, and the glass flecks here seem to be red and pink. They make the polish very glowy.
Application was fine, it's a tiny bit thick, but still nice to apply. I ended up doing 3 coats so I didn't have any visible nail line anymore.

Raspberry Festival was part of the Summer 2009 Summer Days Collection, but should still be available.

Book Review: The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien

Hi there!
Today it's time for a little book review, this time about J.R.R Tolkien's The Hobbit.

The Hobbit is the prequel to the Lord Of The Rings series. The book has been adapted to a movie, or at least the first part of it. Here *click* I reviewed the movie when it came out.
The Hobbit basically tells the story of Bilbo Baggins, a hobbit, who experiences a great adventure when he goes out on a journey with some dwarves to the Lonely Mountain to claim their heritage. On their way there a lot of different things happen to them, and that's what the book tells.
I don't want to give anything away concerning the story and its details, I'd just like to tell you how it felt reading it.
First of all, the book was by far less detailed and descriptive than the movie. That hardly ever happens, but here it's the case. A lot of scenes were just very short and abbreviated, not going into detail. It often felt like the narrator was quite distant from the actual story. Feelings and thoughts don't really play a big role, and for me that means it's quite hard to feel along the characters. It is, however, still comprehensible.
All of the events were really creative and different and well thought-out, and I really liked that.
After all, I think this book is definitely worth a try, but don't expect it to be detailed. That's the main part that is bugging me about this one!

NOTD April 7th: OPI - Swimsuit...Nailed It!

Hi guys!
Today I'd like to show you Swimsuit...Nailed It! by OPI.

Swimsuit...Nailed It! is a medium to dark blue shade, with a very strong foil finish to it. It's very shiny and stunning!
Application was really great, it required 2 normal coats for full opacity.
Removal of this polish is pretty bad, it stains like crazy. But the beautiful color is worth it in my opinion :D
Swimsuit...Nailed It! was part of the Summer 2011 Miss Universe Collection, but you might still be able to get it.

On the 2nd of April was Autism Awareness Day, and the color for that is blue. Even though this is a couple of days late, I figured it wouldn't be bad to still raise awareness about autism!

Review: Ebelin Make-up Egg (Beauty Blender)

Hi everyone,
today I'd like to review a tool I already mentioned in my March Favorites post, the new Ebelin Make-up Egg! Here you go:

• is basically a pink sponge in the shade of an egg with a point
• made to apply your foundation with

Positives:

• great to apply foundation with
• blends really well
• the pointy part is perfect for getting into little corners, for example around your nose
• you get an even and streak-free finish
• it's easy to clean and gets back to its original shape

Negatives:

• availability

I frickin love this tool! It's seriously the best thing even to apply your foundation with, and I love using it every day! I've heard lots of people swoon over this one, and even though I can't compare it myself, it is said to be very very close to the original Beauty Blender. Highly recommend it!
