Book Review: Game of Thrones by George R. R. Martin

Hey there!
Today I'd like to review a book I recently read, the first novel in a whole series written by George R.R. Martin.
This book plays in a fictional world with kings and castles and lots of powerplay, which makes for a rather medieval touch. It does not have a historical background, however!
The book is told from a third-person-narrator's perspective, and it switches between the numerous characters that play important roles. Therefore the reader gets to know different backgrounds and events that some characters don't know about.
It is very interesting to read because it's full of suspense and at a certain point definitely makes you want to learn more about everything.
I found it a bit difficult at first, however, because the story just starts and you have no idea what all of these weird names and things are. But you can easily work it all out by just continuing to read it.
I think that you kind of have to like this type of book. I'm never sure whether I like stories about 12-year-olds being married to old men, lots of slaughter and powerplay. But I did quite enjoy this one, and I'm sure that I'll read the sequels!
Has anyone of you read this one? Or maybe seen the TV show?

NOTD July 11th: p2 - Call Me

Hey there!
Today I'd like to show a nail polish I'm currently wearing, called Call Me! by p2. It is from their Last Forever line.
Call Me is a very deep purple shade. In the bottle it looked lighter, but on the nails it's really almost black. It's a creme, but very glossy. It's neither very warm nor very cool-toned.
Application was fine, at first it was rather streaky. It's so squishy that it has some jelly qualities at first, but it builds up really well. Did 3 coats here.
To be honest, I don't know whether this polish is still available, I'm not that well-versed in the products of p2's permanent line. If you do know, please be so kind and let me know!
What do you think of it?

Review: Astor Soft Sensation Lip Color Butter 011 Feeling Feline

Hey there!
Today I'd like to review a great lip product I already mentioned in my June Favorites post! One of Astor's Lio Color Butters is what I'm talking about :)
Information:
  • Astor Soft Sensation Lip Color Butter
  • shade 011 Feeling Feline, which is a pretty coral pink shade
  • called a mix between lip stick, gloss and balm
  • costs 5,95 Euros
Positives:
  • price is okay
  • very easy way to apply
  • feels great on, like a lip balm, very smooth
  • nice color pay-off, but not too strong
  • lasts quite long
  • nice variety of colors available
  • nice, subtle vanilla scent
Negatives:
  • it easily wears off when eating or drinking
After all, I'm a huge fan of this lip product! It looks great on and is of good quality. Really recommend it!
Has anyone of you tried this one?

NOTD July 5th: Independence Day Nails

Hi there!
Yes, I know, a day late, but better late than never? The nails I wore for the 4th of July :)
I did a very simple version, stars on blue on my thumbs and ring fingers, the rest of the nails stripes on red.
There really isn't a lot more to it, but it was very fun to wear!
What do you think of it?

Review: Essence Me & My Ice Cream LE Shimmer Pearls 01 I-CY U

Hey there!
First of all, a very happy 4th of July to all of you who celebrate it! Have lots of fun!

Now, today I'd like to review Essence's Shimmer Pearls from their current Me & My Ice Cream LE. Here you go:
Information:
  • Essence Shimmer Pearls 01 I-CY U
  • part of the Me & My Ice Cream LE, July 2013
  • cost 3,25 Euros
  • contains 14g
  • are shimmer pearls in all kinds of light colors, such as peach, mint, lilac and others in the sorts
  • come in a little pot
  • intended to be used for highlighting
Positives:
  • price
  • fun idea
  • nice light color
  • not too much shimmer
  • looks very natural
Negatives:
  • you need to layer them to get a visible effect
  • they are a little bit hard to pick up with a brush sometimes
  • they're limited
  • they're too shimmery to be used all over your face/body
After all, these are some cute highlighting pearls, and for days when I just want a very subtle highlight, they are perfect. But there are way better highlighters out there! Can't fully recommend them.
Has anyone of you tried them?

NOTD July 3rd: Essence Tribal Summer LE - 05 Na-Rock

Hey guys!
Today I'd like to show you the nail polish I got from Essence's Tribal Summer LE, called 05 Na-Rock.
Na-Rock is a very interesting color. It's a red in my opinion, but with quite strong pink tones to it. In some ways it's a raspberry shade, but brighter. It's a very warm creme.
Application was really great, this has a fantastic creamy but squishy formula. It only needed 1 coat and it already looked perfect, but I did a second one anyway.
I really like this shade! It looks very pretty and is very fun :)
What do you think of it?

EOTD July 1st: Urban Decay Naked 2

Hi guys!
Today I'd like to show you a very simple EOTD I did with Urban Decay's Naked 2!
For this look I used Suspect on the lid, and Snakebite in the crease. For my highlight in the inner corner of the eye and underneath my brow I used Bootycall. All that is left to do is apply mascara, and you're good to go!
I really enjoy this look as it's so easy but very pretty for every day. The Naked 2 is awesome for these kinds of looks!
What do you think of it?
